What is a healthy diet? A healthy diet is a diet that is rich in a certain number of essential nutrients. Your body needs essential nutrients to stay alive. However, your body has no storage system for these nutrients so you need to consume them regularly through foods. If you don't consume enough of them then your health will suffer. So, what is a healthy diet? A healthy diet plan is based on eating a variety of foods from all 4 food groups and achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. A healthy diet plan is low in saturated fat, cholesterol, salt, and sugar. It also includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products.
A healthy diet plan also helps you to prevent health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. If you eat a healthy diet, you may lower your chance of developing heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.
HEALTHY DIET AND NUTRITION
Here is the healthy diet and nutrition to enhance your health more quickly:
1. Include fruit, vegetables, legumes (such as lentils and beans), nuts, and whole grains are all good sources of fibre (e.g. unprocessed maize, millet, oats, wheat and brown rice) in your diet.
2. Whenever possible, include veggies in your meals.
3. Snacking on fresh fruit and raw veggies.
4. Reducing total fat consumption to less than 30% of total calorie intake aids in the prevention of unhealthy weight gain.
5. When cooking and preparing meals, use less salt and high-sodium condiments (such as soy sauce, fish sauce, and bouillon).
6. Sugary snacks, candies, and sugar-sweetened beverages (i.e. all types of beverages containing free sugars – these include carbonated or noncarbonated soft drinks, fruit or vegetable juices and drinks, liquid and powder concentrates, flavoured water, energy and sports drinks, ready-to-drink tea, ready-to-drink coffee, and flavoured milk drinks) should be avoided.
7. Instead of sugary snacks, eat fresh fruit and raw veggies as a snack.
